Experienced referee Deniz Aytekin is the man in the middle today. The 43-year-old officiated for the first time in the Bundesliga in 2008 and has been a FIFA referee since 2011. A first birthday under the Bayer Cross: Bayer 04 head coach Gerardo Seoane celebrates his 43rd birthday today. The Lucerne-born coach has been at Leverkusen since the start of the season. A Leverkusen DFB Cup winner of 1993 today celebrates his 50th birthday: Mario Tolkmitt won the cup in his first season with the Werkself. The midfielder from Berlin stayed for four and a half years before moving on to Fortuna Düsseldorf. Tolkmitt retired from football in the summer of 1998. Bayer 04 send birthday greetings.
Decision made: Germany will submit a bid to the IOC (International Olympic Committee) to host the 2036, 2040 or 2044 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Munich. The representatives of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) voted for Munich over Cologne-Rhine-Ruhr at their extraordinary meeting in Baden-Baden on Saturday 26 September. Berlin had already withdrawn from the vote a few days earlier.
