Bayer 04 have not lost any of the last six Bundesliga matches against VfL Wolfsburg (four wins, two draws) – the longest ever winning run against the Wolves. Seven goals were scored at the BayArena in the last meeting in the Hinrunde (Bayer 04 won 4-3) and there have only be more goals scored in this fixture in the top-flight once before (nine in Wolfsburg’s 5-4 away win in 2015).
In the current Bundesliga campaign, only VfL Wolfsburg have scored more goals from corners (8) than Bayer 04 (7). However, the Wolves have conceded the most goals from corners in the league (9). In the Bundesliga no other side has scored more goals from set pieces than VfL Wolfsburg (16 along with Bayern Munich) and no other club has let in more goals from set plays than the team from Lower Saxony (14 along with Holstein Kiel).
VfL Wolfsburg are currently tenth in the table. But the Lower Saxony team are better than their position suggests. The team under coach Ralf Hasenhüttl are amongst the most prolific sides in the league and they are looking to get back into Europe. VfL have the fourth best attack in the league with 43 goals scored. Wolfsburg are top in terms of efficiency: No other team has a better conversion rate than VfL Wolfsburg (23%) ahead of this matchday. And in no other team are the goals scored by more players with 15 having found the back of the net for Wolfsburg this term.
