DFL confirms matchdays 15 to 21

The German Football League (DFL) has confirmed timings for Bundesliga matchdays 15 to 21. The Werkself have four Saturday games plus one each on a Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. In the final week before the winter break, Bayer 04 play on Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday in the Bundesliga. At the start of the second half of the season, the Black and Reds have three Saturday afternoon fixtures.

In the week before Christmas the Werkself are away to FC Schalke in the early Wednesday evening spot (18.30 CET), before the final match ahead of the winter break on Saturday 22 December (15.30 CET) at the BayArena against Hertha Berlin. The home games against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich are also Saturday afternoon fixtures. The DFB Cup tie in Heiden, probably to be played on the Tuesday, is followed with Bayer 04 kicking off Bundesliga matchday 21 at Mainz.

Matchday  16: Wednesday, 19 December, 18.30 CET: FC Schalke 04 (A)

Matchday  18: Saturday, 19 January,  15.30 CET: Borussia Mönchengladbach (H)

Matchday 19: Saturday, 26 January, 15.30  CET: VfL Wolfsburg (A)

Matchday  20: Saturday, 2 February, 15.30 CET: Bayern Munich (H)

DFB Cup, Round of 16: 5/6 February: FC Heidenheim (A)*

Matchday  21: Friday, 8 February, 20.30 CET: Mainz 05 (A)

Rüdiger Vollborn has been at the club for 40 years, he holds the record number of Bundesliga appearances for the club (401) and is the only Bayer 04 player to have won both the UEFA Cup (1988) and the DFB Pokal (1993).
