The first look is very captivating. Whoever has the new Werkself Magazin in their hands can look deep into the eyes of a man who has made a lasting impression on the pitch as well as on the cover of edition 41 over the past weeks and months: The title story is dedicated to Moussa Diaby in which the 23-year-old Frenchman provides insights into his remarkable development over the past four years at Bayer 04. A very special photo location was found for the big interview with Amine Adli, his fellow countrymen at Bayer 04, with whom he has created many positive headlines (“With Air France to Europe”). At the JUMP House in Cologne, Adli provides examples of his jumping ability and also proves to be an eloquent and informative partner in conversation.
The new Werkself Magazin also offers a lot of extra value for all Black and Reds supporters: Coach Xabi Alonso talks about his favourite grounds, several Bayer 04 players act as film stars in reference to the recent award of the Oscars in Los Angeles, Piero Hincapie shares interesting information about his home country Ecuador and, of course, a look at the quarter-finals in the Europa League with the two clashes with Union Saint-Gilloise cannot be left out.

Elisa Senß, captain of the Bayer 04 Women’s team, is the focus of a detailed profile. The impressive season for the U17s is highlighted as is the visit of the Japanese youth partner club V-Varen Nagasaki to Kurtekotten. As part of the Bayer Sports Family, the article this time looks at the Werkselfen female handball team of TSV Bayer 04 who have been in the Bundesliga since being founded in 1975 and are still the record champions in Germany. That and much more besides makes the new magazine attractive reading for all Werkself fans as usual.

The Werkself Magazin saw the introduction of new technical functions in the winter break in 2022/23 that makes reading even easier. What the functions are exactly and how you can use them can be found in the PDF document.

Freiburg’s defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend left them two places but a whole 10 points behind Bayer 04. Their results in general may be mixed, but Julian Schuster’s side are a force to be reckoned with at home, where they have earned 24 of their 33 points. Leverkusen may choose to look for the aerial route if they’re to get the better of their hosts, who have conceded more headed goals than any other team. Here’s all you need to know ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game in our matchday news.
