Playing in Cologne, Germany drew for the third time in the third international in 2020 with a 3-3 scoreline this time. The team under coach Joachim Löw took the lead three times in the friendly against Turkey: Julian Draxler (45’), debutant Florian Neuhaus (58’) and Luca Waldschmidt (81’) scored for the hosts with Jonathan Tah coming on after the hour mark and Nadiem Amiri winning his fourth cap just before the end of the game. There were four former Leverkusen players in the starting eleven: Bernd Leno, Benjamin Henrichs, Kai Havertz and Julian Brandt.

Germany next play Ukraine in the Nations League on Saturday 10 October (kick-off: 20.45 CEST/live on ARD). Switzerland provide the opposition in Cologne three days later. The kick-off is also at 20.45 CEST and that match will also be broadcast live on ARD.
Julian Baumgartlinger and Aleksandar Dragovic also played for their country on Wednesday night. The Werkself duo were in the starting line-up in the 2-1 home win for Austria in a friendly against Greece. While ‘Drago’ was one of five players to go the full distance, the captain ‘Baumi’ went off after 45 minutes. Austria now have two away games in the Nations League against Northern Ireland and Romania.

Croatia were also winners on the night. The World Cup finalists of 2018 beat Switzerland 2-1 in a friendly. Tin Jedvaj came on just after the hour mark. Croatia next play Sweden and World Cup winners France in the Nations League.
Werkself first choice keeper Lukas Hradecky did not play for Finland in a 5-1 defeat against Poland in a friendly; Bayer 04 loanee Joel Pohjanpalo, currently playing for Union Berlin, came on as a substitute on 62 minutes.
