Florian Wirtz has earned 16 full international caps to date. The Leverkusen player made his debut for Germany in September 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein (2-0). After three more appearances, Wirtz suffered a torn cruciate early on in 2022 that meant he did not play in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Since the start of 2023, the 21-year-old has been called up for every international break and he has played in all but one of 13 international fixtures. He scored his first goal for his country after eight seconds in the 2-0 victory against France – the fastest goal ever for Germany.
Wirtz joins Werkself teammates Jonathan Tah and Robert Andrich for the tournament in Germany. The DFB will announce the full squad for Euro 2024 on Thursday afternoon.
