It was the best of his five goals at last summer's 2021 European Championships: Patrik Schick made it 2-0 on 52 minutes in the group match against Scotland with a shot from over 45 yards out. The Werkself number 14 also netted the first goal for the Czech Republic in that game.
Also nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award 2021 are the Argentinian Erich Lamela (Tottenham Hotspur) and the Iranian Mehdi Taremi (FC Porto).
The current holder is the former Werkself player Heung-Min Son who has played for Tottenham Hotspur since his move from Bayer 04 in the summer of 2015. He won the award in 2020.
This year's winner will again be selected by an international jury consisting of a panel of FIFA legends plus fans from all over the world registered on FIFA.com.

A disciplined defensive performance in the second leg saw Bayer 04 prevail against Olympiacos in the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League 2025/26.
