"In Janis Blaswich, we've found a first-class successor in the goalkeeping position. This will allow us to continue our work with the goalkeeping team without losing any quality," explained Bayer 04 managing director sport Simon Rolfes. "In addition to his individual quality, Janis brings a great deal of international experience to the table. We're delighted we were able to complete this first-class transfer."
"It's a huge pleasure for me to follow such a charismatic player like Lukas, who became a legend at Bayer 04," underlined Blaswich. The 1.93 metre tall keeper was loaned out by RB Leipzig to Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg last season. "To now play for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the most high-calibre club in my home region and one of the best clubs in Germany, is outstanding," he continued. "I'm absolutely thrilled about what lies ahead."
