With summer temperatures of 25 degrees, the Bayer 04 fans present witnessed a lively performance from the Leverkusen team led by Robert Andrich with the captain's armband. Goals from Werkself players Nadiem Amiri and Gustavo Puerta, a strike from U17 player Naba Mensah plus an Alemannia own goal gave the Black and Reds a 4-0 lead at half-time. Aachen reduced the deficit with a goal from Elsamed Ramaj and a Leverkusen own goal to make it 4-2.
The Werkself players in action today have an extended weekend off. The Leverkusen group will return to work on Monday and start preparations for the top match away to Bayern Munich. That game is on Friday 14 September (kick-off: 20.30 CEST) at the Allianz Arena.
Roberto Pätzold has been named the new head coach of Bayer 04 Women. The 44-year-old succeeds Robert de Pauw in the role from 1 June 2024 and has signed a contract until 30 June 2026.
