The German Football Association (DFB) has appointed Tobias Stieler as the match referee. The 40-year-old has previously officiated 21 Werkself games. For the Black and Reds that has brought 17 wins, two draws and two defeats plus 21 yellow cards and one dismissal. Stieler will be assisted this evening by Eduard Beitinger and Marcel Unger. The fourth official is Nicolas Winter and Tobias Welz is the Video Assistant Referee. For the Hamburg referee it will be the first game involving the Werkself this season.
The Werkself LIVE matchday magazine will be available at the stadium for the last home game of the year – alternatively it is available online free of charge. New for this season, the Bayer 04 matchday flyer presents interesting stats and facts on the encounter between the Werkself and TSG Hoffenheim. On the reverse side is a poster of Nadiem Amiri. HERE is the ePaper.
The clash with TSG is subject to the coronavirus protection order from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, That includes a reduced capacity of up to 15,000 spectators plus the mandatory wearing of masks that also applies at the seats. All other information on visiting the BayArena can be found in our home game FAQs.
Will the Werkself remain ahead of Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga table after matchday 16? The statistics definitely suggest that: Bayer 04 have won 15 of 26 games in the top-flight against TSG (five draws, six defeats) – the team from the Kraichgau have only suffered more defeats against Bayern Munich (18). In addition, the Seoane team can hope to build on their rediscovered strength at home: The last two matches at the BayArena ended in victory and that means the Black and Reds picked up as many points in those two games as in the first five home matches of the season put together.
As today's game is being played later in the evening, Bayer 04 have met up at the team hotel this afternoon instead of the evening before. A session at Bismarckstraße was followed by lunch, a final team meeting and the pre-match meal at the hotel. The Werkself are fully prepared for the top game.
