Bayer 04 signed French Under-18 international Axel Tape in the summer of 2025. The defensive player made a long-term move from Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain to Leverkusen. “Axel Tape is a versatile defensive player, a good footballer with pace, athleticism, and outstanding game intelligence,” said Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes, describing the 1.80-meter-tall talent during the signing of the contract. “We see great potential in him, and his transfer-free signing is an important building block in our future-oriented squad planning.”
