The Bayer 04 Leverkusen Bundesliga team is on a five-day tour in the USA from 13 to 18 November. The Werkself have a friendly in the city of St. Louis in the state of Missouri against newcomers to the Major League Soccer (MLS) St. Louis CITY Soccer Club, and the match is also the opening event at the brand new CITYPARK Stadium (Kick-off: 16 November, 19.00 local time/ 02.00 CET, 17 November). Similar to the #Bayer04MexicoTour in the spring, Bayer AG act as the local partner of Bayer 04 on the Bayer 04 USA tour, as St. Louis has been the headquarters of the agrochemical division of Bayer since 2018. During the stay, a number of events with employees have been arranged plus participation in community projects and a cultural programme.

The #Bayer04USATour 2022 is over. The last group of the Bayer 04 delegation headed home to Germany on Friday after watching the St. Louis Blues NHL match on Thursday evening. The Werkself now have a two-week break from training.

For several of the Werkself players it was the last part of the USA trip before saying farewell and setting off to the airport to start a well-deserved holiday. For the other part of the Bayer 04 group there was an absolute highlight in the evening with a visit to an NHL game.

Show moreAfter coming through the ranks at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre and the first training sessions with the Werkself. including appearances in friendly matches, Max Schneider decided to move to the USA after his Abitur exams in 2019 to follow his ambitions as a professional footballer as well as continuing to study psychology. After three successful years in the college team at Marshall University (West Virginia) the 22-year-old joined St Louis CITY SC in the spring of 2022. Schneider is currently playing for the reserves in the MLS Next Pro league.
