The Werkself fixture list for the 2026/27 season in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga has been finalised. To kick off the season, coach Roberto Pätzold’s team travel to RB Leipzig between 21 and 24 August. The fixtures were announced by the German Football Association (DFB) on Thursday morning. The season will conclude with a home match on 23 May 2027 against newly promoted side Mainz 05.
Frauen-Bundesliga-Spielplan 2026/27

One week after the start of the season, the Bayer 04 Women's team host last season’s runners-up, VfL Wolfsburg, in their first home match at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium (28–31 August). The DFB intends to announce the exact kick-off times for the first five matchdays by the end of July.

Winter break after matchday 13

The Hinrunde derby against FC Köln is on matchday 12 between 11 and 14 December at the UHS; the return fixture in the Rückrunde takes the Werkself to the neighbouring city on matchday 25 between 7 and 10 May 2027. The winter break – lasting around one month – will begin at the end of the Hinrunde between 18 and 21 December 2026. The Rückrunde starts between 15 and 18 January 2027. On the final matchday (23 May 2027), all seven matches will kick off at the same time as usual. The Werkself will face Bundesliga newcomers Mainz at home.

As usual, Bayer 04 will publish all the information regarding the start of ticket sales for home matches in good time via the club media channels.

World Cup finalist from Maradona’s neighbourhood: Profile of new signing Facundo Medina

Villa Fiorito, River Plate, Ligue 1, the World Cup final and now Bayer 04: Facundo Medina’s life story so far has been shaped by special places, clubs, matches and names. One of them is Diego Maradona, who, like Medina, hailed from the south of Buenos Aires. Another is Exequiel Palacios, his former team-mate at River Plate, who was raving about Bayer 04 to him as recently as the World Cup in North America. Medina has now taken the plunge into the Bundesliga and, as an Argentine World Cup runner-up, has joined Bayer 04 from Olympique de Marseille this week. It is set to be the next successful chapter in his career. Leverkusen’s new number 2 brings with him a South American mentality and passion, a wealth of experience from many years in Ligue 1, and a fascinating story to the Rhineland – and to a club where the 1.84-metre-tall left-footed player will be reunited with Palacios and several other familiar faces.
