The Bayer 04 Women’s team will be playing in front of empty stands at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium in the opening home game on Friday, 11 September (kick-off: 19.15 CET). “Of course, we would like to give our fans the opportunity to support the women’s team here at home,” said Thomas Eichin, head of the youth and women’s teams at Bayer 04. In view of the current situation in Leverkusen due to the coronavirus pandemic, “we do have a duty of care to our supporters. Against this background, we will only provide a small allocation of tickets within the club.”

However, fans of the Bayer 04 women’s team will not have to miss out completely. The second match in the new season of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga against MSV Duisburg will be screened live on free TV live on Eurosport. “We will continue to keep an eye on the number of cases and we are in constant contact with the medical section,” Eichin added.

“Our whole team is continuing to work on a plan that includes putting an allocation of tickets on open sale. We definitely want to give our fans the chance to watch a game at the stadium while strictly adhering to the hygiene protocols,” said Linda Schöttler, general manager of the Bayer 04 Women. The behind closed doors rule only applies to the first home game.
