"We're very happy with the development in the women's department, and that is of course largely thanks to Achim," said director of professional teams Thomas Eichin, who is also responsible for the Bayer 04 Women: "The collaboration with Linda Schöttler is excellent and continuity is very important to us. That's why this extension is only logical. We want to continue on our path in this configuration in the coming years."
"The contract extension sends a strong signal for stability in women's football at Bayer 04. As sporting director, Achim has made a significant contribution to the structural and sporting development of our department in recent years," said Linda Schöttler, manager of women's football at Bayer 04: "We want to continue our joint efforts successfully and achieve our ambitious goals in the medium and long term."
"I really appreciate the cooperation and the trust in my work and look forward to continuing our time together. It's terrific to continue being part of a successful team," said Feifel: "We want to stay true to ourselves and continue to play a good and ambitious role in the Bundesliga in the future by developing young, talented players, among other things."
The football coach (UEFA Pro Level) and qualified sports instructor from Schwäbisch Gmünd first came into contact with women's football in 2003 as assistant coach of the Germany U23 side. Feifel then took charge of the Women’s team at Hamburg SV in 2005 and also later worked there in various roles in the youth set-up. In between these roles, he had spells at Russian Champions League participants FC Rossiyanka and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. In the summer of 2019, Feifel took over as coach of Bayer 04 Women and led the team to the DFB Cup semi-finals twice in three years. At the start of the 2022/23 season, he took over the newly created position of Women's sporting director.

Bayer 04 put in a brilliant performance to beat RB Leipzig 4-1 on Bundesliga matchday 32 and are now fourth in a Champions League spot. The Black and Reds took control of the game right from the start and, with 75 per cent possession at one stage, took a 2-0 lead into the break through Patrik Schick (25’) and Nathan Tella (45+1’). The visitors initially tried to do more after the break, but the Werkself remained determined and Schick scored his second goal to increase the lead to 3-0 (76'). The Red Bulls pulled a goal back through Christoph Baumgartner (80'), but the disciplined Leverkusen side were not rattled - and certainly not Schick: The Czechia international crowned a brilliant display with his third goal shortly before the final whistle to make the final score 4-1.

In the previous game against RB Leipzig in December last year, the Werkself turned came from behind to win 3-1 and further improved Leverkusen's already strong record against the Red Bulls. Montrell Culbreath stood out with his first goal on his debut for the Black and Reds. While the 18-year-old would certainly like to score a second goal against Leipzig on Saturday night, the attack-minded visitors come to the BayArena in confident mood after five Bundesliga victories in a row. The Nordkurve12 supporters group knows the Werkself will therefore once again be reliant on the vociferous support of the fans, and has once again called for the ‘Finally Red’ campaign in the run-in.
