In front of approximately 75 invited guests from the worlds of sports, politics and business, the city honored several athletes at its annual awards ceremony, including Wamser, para-long jumper Markus Rehm, who secured his tenth consecutive world title in 2025, and para-sprinter Jule Roß, who won bronze in the 400 meters at the World Championships. The duo from TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, along with Wamser, participated in a fireside chat with host Anke Feller.
The 22-year-old, who transferred from Eintracht Frankfurt to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, reflected on her very special summer at the European Championship in Switzerland. Last July, as one of the tournament newcomers, she unexpectedly became a regular starter for the German national team and subsequently reached the semi-finals with them – a milestone in her still young career. She also spoke about her expectations for the second half of the season with Bayer 04 Women. Afterwards, Wamser had the honour of signing the city's Golden Book alongside Mayor Stefan Hebbel.

"I was very pleased to be able to sign the city’s Golden Book," said the full-back. "It’s something special that certainly doesn’t happen very often in life. It was also nice to get an insight into the lives of other athletes in this grand setting and to see what they have all achieved.”
In January 2024, then Werkself captain Elisa Senß was entered into the Golden Book along with Bayer 04's German U17 champions led by coach Aleksandar Vukicevic.

Freiburg’s defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend left them two places but a whole 10 points behind Bayer 04. Leverkusen may choose to look for the aerial route if they’re to get the better of their hosts, who have conceded more headed goals than any other team.
