
The NRW State Sports Association and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia are selecting the Sportsmen and Sportswomen of the Year for the 18th time. There are five athletes to choose from in each of six categories (Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Team of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, ‘Para Sport felix’ and ‘Football felix’).
In addition to Wamser, Wirtz, who joined Liverpool from Bayer 04 in the summer and received the award in 2023 , as well as Bundesliga players Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), Tim Kleindienst (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Lilli Purtscheller (SGS Essen) are also nominated for the ‘Football felix’. Swimmer Taliso Engel from TSV Bayer 04 has been nominated in the ‘Para Sport felix’ category.
