On the previous evening, the team led by Roberto Pätzold secured a convincing win against the hosts KKS at the Arcelormittal Park in Sosnowiec thanks to an impressive performance. Accordingly, after four training sessions and the friendly, it was all about recovery on Thursday morning.

About half of the team stayed in the Hotel Monopol. The session there consisted of a combination of weights training and aqua jogging. The other players travelled 20 minutes by coach to the training ground in Sosnowiec. Some players completed runs while the others did passing drills and football tennis.
Charlotte Voll was the last player to join the squad late on in the morning. The goalkeeper is still in rehab after her shoulder operation and she is carrying that on in Poland up to the return flight on Monday. With 24 outfield players and four goalkeepers, including youth players Chiara Kaiser and Louisa Remien, the whole squad is now the training camp.

After lunch, the Leverkusen group went to one of the first big team activities of the training camp. At 'Energylandia', the biggest theme park in Poland, the players had 133 attractions available in an area of 74 hectares for three and a half hours: ideal compensation after the many sessions on the training ground and the friendly. The fourth day of the training camp was rounded off with a workshop with the Bayer 04 sports psychologist Simon Borgmann.
Up to the return flight on Monday afternoon, the Werkself still have four sessions on the training ground plus a team evening and another activity. Three more friendly fixtures against European opposition await on a weekly basis after returning from Katowice. The new Bundesliga season starts on 31 August (kick-off: 14.00 CEST) with a match away to SC Freiburg. The Werkself then play in the second round of the DFB Pokal a week later with the opponents to be confirmed. The full summer schedule for the Women's team is HERE.

But they come up against a team fighting for their Bundesliga lives at the bottom of the table, 10 points adrift of safety with time running out. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game in our matchday news.
