“Caro is a real team player, who’s appreciated by everyone. She’s battled back time and time again from difficult periods during her time with us,” said sporting director Achim Feifel. “After three years, she’s now seeking a new challenge in Bremen. We wish her all the best for her future career.”
Siems joined Leverkusen in summer 2021 from English Women’s Super League club Aston Villa, going on to make 40 competitive appearances (three goals). All 12 of Siems’ appearances this season have come in the Bundesliga, with six of them starts. The former Germany youth international previously played at Turbine Potsdam between 2015 and 2020, including three years in the Bundesliga.
“It wasn’t an easy decision for me, but I feel ready for a new step,” said Siems. “I had three great and eventful years full of valuable experiences. Also at the times when things weren’t going well, I was always able to count on the support of the club, the team and the backroom staff.”

After Eintracht Frankfurt lost on Saturday, Roberto Pätzold's side can close the gap on their rivals to two points and leave it all to play for next Sunday.

It meant the Swabians leapfrogged the Werkself in the Bundesliga table on the penultimate matchday.

Today sees Bayer 04 go head-to-head with their next direct rivals in the race for Champions League qualification (kick-off 15:30 CEST). Opponents Stuttgart are currently fifth in the table, level on points with the Werkself but one place below them due to a three-goal inferior goal difference. The Black and Reds' record at Bad Cannstatt tells a clearer story: they've not lost at VfB for over 16 years. One important factor in securing what would be three crucial points away from home is Leverkusen's strength on the counter-attack. Whilst Stuttgart are also extremely dangerous going forward, they will be without their captain. Today’s matchday news.
