The DFB announced at the end of May that the Werkself would play reigning champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the official Bundesliga opener of the 2025/26 season. FC Bayern announced last Tuesday that 25,000 tickets for the game have already been sold - a club record. The big match is followed by the first home game for the Werkself against Bundesliga newcomers Union Berlin at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium. The DFB will announce the timings for the first four matchdays in around two weeks time.
The Hinrunde derby away to FC Köln is on matchday five between 3 and 6 October with the Bayer 04 Women playing the Cologne side in the return match in the Rückrunde between 13 and 16 Fabry 2026. The opening Rückrunde fixtures on matchday 14 will be followed by a one-month winter break that ends on 23 January 2026. On the final matchday 26 (17 May 2026) all seven games will kick off at the same time.
Bayer 04 will, as usual, publish information on the start of ticket sales for home games in good time via the club media channels.
The Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga will have 14 teams in the new season for the first time. The DFB agreed the expansion in the summer. While Turbine Potsdam were the only team to go down to league two in May, three teams have been promoted: FC Nürnberg, Hamburg SV and Union Berlin.
All 182 Bundesliga matches will be broadcast live on the pay streaming services MagentaSport and DAZN. The matchdays will usually start with a game on Friday at 18:30 CEST/CET. There will be two Saturday matches (12:00 and 14:00) and three on Sundays (14:00, 16:00 and 18:30) instead of two. Finally there will be a floodlit match on Mondays at 18:00, which will be shown on free TV on SPORT1.
In addition, ARD and ZDF will broadcast ten live games per season free of charge including the opening game for the Werkself in Munich on 6 September (ARD). That means 36 matches will be shown live on free TV. Match highlights will also be available on ARD/ZDF, MagentaSport, DAZN and Sky.
