"Kristin has become one of the main characters at Bayer 04 in recent years. That is not only due to her playing ability and her tactical flexibility on the pitch but also her role in the dressing room," said Achim Feifel, sporting director of the Bayer 04 Women's team: "As a strong personality, she is there for her teammates at any time and always ready to listen. And that's another reason why we are very happy she’s staying here with us."
"I'm very much looking forward to continue playing for Leverkusen. I really feel at home here and I’ve been able to develop into an established Bundesliga player here over the four years at Bayer 04," said Kögel: "I'd like to build on that and continue to take the next steps in the coming years. At the same time, I'm definitely looking forward to continuing to battle for the club's targets with my team."
The former Germany U20 international joined Leverkusen from Bayern Munich in 2020 and she has made 85 appearances under the Bayer Cross with 75 in the Bundesliga (ten goals) and ten in the DFB Pokal (five goals). Kögel has started all 20 games this season and scored four goals so far.
