Fernando Carro, Bayer 04 CEO: "Bayer 04 has already underlined the significance of the subject area with the establishment of the sustainability department in 2022. As an organisation in the spotlight of publicity, we want to make a substantial contribution to social responsibility – the sustainability report documents this awareness in great detail."

In addition to the comprehensive activity and project reports plus strategic considerations in the area of sustainability, the report also contains concrete figures from the reporting year of 2023. These are consciously aligned to the reporting standard VSME ESRS (Voluntary Small and Medium Enterprise European Sustainability Reporting Standards) that was published as a draft by the EFRAG (European Financial Reporting Advisory Group). Matthias Adler, head of the sustainability department at Bayer 04, said: "A broad body of data basis for reflecting on and maximising processes at the club. The associated process, which all sections at Bayer 04 continue to be involved in, highlights what Bayer 04 is about now – and where we want to be in the future. Our new sustainability strategy will help us with that."

The 2023 sustainability report is available now at bayer04.de. In addition, there will be a limited printed edition.

New seating for the BayArena - donation and reuse of existing seats

A fresh look for the BayArena: The Bayer 04 stadium will have new seating in the form of folding seats for the 2026/27 campaign that will ensure significantly improved seating comfort and simplified movement within the rows of seats. As part of routine replacement after 17 years, fans of the Werkself were able to purchase the existing seats, used to witness the first German league title in the club's history. In addition, a large proportion of the seats will be donated to charitable projects, primarily in the local region. Bayer 04 fans can look forward to new, functional folding seats for the season opener at the beginning of August - still in the club colours of black and red, of course.
