"Over the past 12 years we have constantly seen how important the commitment of countless volunteers is for organised club football," said Meinolf Sprink, director of fans/community at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. "Therefore we are happy to have the opportunity to give all clubs in the region the chance to present themselves and their volunteering commitment for the thirteenth year and also have the chance of additional recognition of their commitment to the game."
Interested clubs from the FVM and FVN associations can apply immediately with their projects. Either via email (wir04helfen@bayer04.de) or via post to Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH, under the heading of volunteer prize: Bismarckstraße 122-124, 51373 Leverkusen. Please note only the presented commitment can be assessed.
The closing date for applications is 27 October 2019. Awards will be presented to winners at the Bundesliga match between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and SC Freiburg on Saturday, 23 November 2019.
The two main winners last year were Spielvereinigung Frechen 1920 e.V. (FVM) and Sport-Ring Solingen 1880/95 e.V. (FVN). The advisory committee of the two association presidents Bernd Neuendorf (FVM) and Peter Frymuth (FVN) plus the Leverkusen coordinator Marc Adomat are again looking forward to a large number of impressive applications.

Lying third in the Bundesliga, the Werkself made a faltering start in 2026 after the winter break, but gradually rediscovered winning ways and, as in the previous campaign, were among the top 16 in Europe and the top four in the DFB Pokal. In the Bundesliga, the Werkself also remained in the race for Champions League qualification right to the end. A season with many ups and downs brought sixth place and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Part II of the review of the 2025/26 season.

Following the final match of the 2025/26 season, the prevailing feeling was naturally one of disappointment after missing out on qualification for the Champions League. The Werkself finished the Bundesliga in sixth place, meaning they'll start the 2026/27 campaign in the Europa League. "But to talk negatively about everything now because of that would be wrong," stressed captain Robert Andrich following the final game, knowing that the past year at Bayer 04 was marked, more than almost any other, by the start of a new era and the courage to change – and in particular, the belief in a positive direction. Everyone was aware this process would need time. The first part of the 2025/26 season review.
