Bayer 04 supports cancer awareness campaign #stellkrebsvomplatz

In association with the Bundesliga match against VfL Bochum on Wednesday 25 January (kick-off: 20.30 CET) and in view of World Cancer Day on 4 February, Bayer 04 is promoting the subject of cancer screening. The Werkself and initiator Bayer Vital, in close partnership for two years, are joining forces to make people aware of cancer screening for the early identification of prostate cancer under the slogan #stellkrebsvomplatz (#sendcanceroff)

Immediately before kick-off at the BayArena the Werkself and the Bochum team will join together for a photo with the campaign banner. In addition, a video will be shown with Bayer 04 players Lukas Hradecky, Robert Andrich and Kerem Demirbay plus the Bayer 04 medical director Dr. Karl-Heinrich Dittmar giving their support to cancer screening campaign. The subject will also be broadcast on the LED screens throughout the stadium and included in the Werkself Live matchday magazine.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer amongst men with over 60,000 cases per year. Prostate cancer can very often be treated if identified early enough. Only a quarter of men over over 45 take up the offer of screening. The campaign, also supported by the Stiftung Urologische Gesundheit (Urological Health Foundation), is aimed at reaching as many people as possible and removing taboos from the subject of early diagnosis of prostate cancer. “At Bayer 04, we have made urological screening an integral part of medicals,” said Dr. Dittmar.

Algarve sunshine instead of sub-zero temperatures: Bayer 04 Women start winter training camp

In Germany, the temperatures are currently around zero, leaving even professional footballers freezing - but not the Bayer 04 Women. Roberto Pätzold's team have fled the cold to the south and are preparing for the second half of the season at a training camp in the Algarve, almost 2,000 kilometres away from home as the crow flies. The Leverkusen squad landed in Faro on Saturday morning and have already completed the first three training sessions over the weekend.
