Bayer 04 Women on international duty in qualifiers

Six members of the Bayer 04 Women's squad are involved in World Cup qualifiers in the forthcoming international break. The ninth Women's World Cup will be played in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August 2023. For two youngsters this is also the start of qualification for the U19 European Championships in the Czech Republic from 27 June to 8 July 2022.

Dina Blagojević with Serbia faces Germany in a World Cup qualifier. Irina Pando has two matches with Switzerland against Lithuania and Moldova. Lara Marti was also originally due to be in the Switzerland squad but the 21-year-old had to drop out of the internationals due to an injury to her right ankle.

Sylwia Matysik and Poland play Belgium and Armenia, while Lilla Turányi and Dóra Zeller are set to be in action for Hungary against Scotland and Spain. Milena Nikolić is with Bosnia and Herzegovina for the games against Montenegro and Malta.

New signing Lisanne Gräwe and Sofie Zdebel are in the Germany Women's U19 squad for the qualifiers to the 2022 U19 European Championships. Germany will be based in Volgograd where they play three qualifiers against Slovenia, Russia and Belgium.

Eleven days after the floodlight failure, the Bayer 04 Women rescued a point in the rescheduled Bundesliga derby at 1. FC Köln thanks to a late dream goal from Katharina Piljic. The Werkself drew 2-2 at the Franz Kremer Stadion on Thursday evening. Vanessa Fudalla (76') from the penalty spot and Piljic with a shot from the centre circle (88') gave the Black and Reds a late reprieve. Leverkusen, who are now been unbeaten against their Rhineland neighbours for almost four years, remain fourth in the table with the draw following five consecutive wins.
