Blood donations are always in great demand but particularly during the coronavirus pandemic – there is a shortage of blood stocks worldwide due to the decline in people willing to donate. Bayer 04 supported the DRK #missingtype campaign last term – and are now calling for donations again. The blood donor session will be held in the Premium Lounge (level 2) at the BayArena in accordance with all the current physical distancing and hygiene measures.
Registration is required: A session can be booked HERE. Further information on blood donation is available HERE.
The Bergische Krankenkasse will also have an information stall on site. Bayer 04 fans can also be tested and entered in the bone marrow donor register.
After the good turn, the Bayer 04 fan liaison team are inviting all blood donors, as well as all interested Werkself fans of course, to visit a flea market on the piazza on the west side of the BayArena. Fans of flea markets can search for and acquire old and new Bayer 04 treasures from 15.00 CET. The money raised will be donated to the support group Förderverein Fanprojekt Leverkusen e.V. to help finance community work and fans in Leverkusen.
Anybody interested should visit the Facebook page of the fan liaison team in the week before the flea market – information will be provided there on the available objects.
The Bayer 04 fan liaison team will be happy to answer questions about the afternoon at the BayArena at Fanbetreuung@Bayer04.de.

Lying third in the Bundesliga, the Werkself made a faltering start in 2026 after the winter break, but gradually rediscovered winning ways and, as in the previous campaign, were among the top 16 in Europe and the top four in the DFB Pokal. In the Bundesliga, the Werkself also remained in the race for Champions League qualification right to the end. However, because setbacks repeatedly crept into the Werkself's performances between good displays and crucial games, it was not quite enough to secure a UCL spot in the end. A season with many ups and downs brought sixth place and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Part II of the review of the 2025/26 season.

Following the final match of the 2025/26 season, the prevailing feeling was naturally one of disappointment after missing out on qualification for the Champions League. The Werkself finished the Bundesliga in sixth place, meaning they'll start the 2026/27 campaign in the Europa League. "But to talk negatively about everything now because of that would be wrong," stressed captain Robert Andrich following the final game, knowing that the past year at Bayer 04 was marked, more than almost any other, by the start of a new era and the courage to change – and in particular, the belief in a positive direction. Everyone was aware this process would need time. The first part of the 2025/26 season review.
