Simon Rolfes, managing director for sport, said of the draw: "I'm looking forward to it. West Ham have a stadium full of atmosphere, and now after Baku we have a short trip to London - which is also nice for our fans. We're playing against a good Premier League side, as we saw against Freiburg. It's going to be a difficult task but we got a feeling last season for what a semi-final in the Europa League means. We're going to give our all to get there."
West Ham finished top of Group A and beat SC Freiburg 5-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.
The first leg will take place in Leverkusen on Thursday 11 April, with the return leg a week later on Thursday 18 April in East London. Tickets for the home match will go on sale on 26 March. Ticket details for the away game will be announced in due course. Full details on the ticket sale procedures for both legs will follow on the club's channels.
Should Bayer 04 progress, their semi-final will be played on 2 and 9 May. The final will take place in Dublin on 22 May.
