No luck against Gladbach - FUT Champions Cup awaits

In the Virtual Bundesliga, Marvin ‘B04_M4RV’ Hintz and Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ De Cae missed out on another win after beating FC Nürnberg in the opening match. Last Saturday, our lads could only draw 2-2 and lose 2-1 twice against Yannick ‘Jeffreyy95’ Reiners, Michael ‘X Phenomeno X’ Gherman and Georgios ‘Georgis7’.

As on matchday one, Marvin ‘B04_M4RV’ Hintz went first when he came up against Yannick ‘Jeffryy95’ Reiners (ranked 74th in the world) playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Despite going behind twice, Marvin kept his cool: The game ended all square at 2-2. The second match of the day saw Bayer 04 suffer the first defeat of the season: Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ De Cae lost 2-1, after being 1-0 up, against Michael ‘X Phenomeno X’ Gherman. The visitors from Mönchengladbach came out on top in the two-v-two game with another 2-1 victory. Georgios ‘Georgios7’ Papatolis joined the action without having played a one-v-one game before.

True to the motto ‘take it game by game’, Marvin Hintz immediately looked forwards. The 91st player in the world rankings on Playstation 4 will be at the #3 FUT Champions Cup at the PGL Studios in Bucharest from 25 to 27 January. Marvin will be competing with 63 other players for a $50,000 prize plus 1,500 Global Series points. “The first two matchdays at the VBL did not go to plan so I want to use the tournament in Bucharest to get back on top of my game,” said the 22-year-old.

Up to 30 January, Bayer 04 play Hamburg SV, VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Arminia Bielefeld in the Virtual Bundesliga .

‘Real role models’ show solidarity – BioBrotbox campaign with Bayer 04

Just in time for the start of the school year, everyone was hard at work again at NaturGut Ophoven. For the 21st time, Bayer 04 have supported the annual ‘BioBrotbox’ campaign, which puts together a healthy breakfast for first-year primary school pupils in Leverkusen – and not only contributed 1,904 muesli bars but also plenty of enthusiasm too: Together with the U19 players Burak Kir and Clinton Wilson, Emily Wallrabenstein and Paulina Platner from the Women’s Bundesliga team helped with the packing. The latter was clearly delighted “that Bayer 04 are helping out with regional projects like this and showing their commitment to the local community”.
