Multifaceted responsibility in interaction with eSports players
In the modern age of eSports, the training of the athletes grows ever more significant. At Bayer 04 this aspect is seen as a cornerstone for sustainable development of the eSports players. This is not only about promoting their playing ability but also the development of their personality and the creation of a perspective for life after their careers.
Responsible interaction with the eSports players is centre stage. Bayer 04 recognises it is crucial to give them the necessary know-how and the tools for self organisation. Targeted training programs should enable the eSports players to plan their careers over the long term and, at the same time, develop their personal and professional abilities.
The combination of knowledge and self organisation strengthens the person behind the eSports player. Bayer 04 recognises the value of this development and participates in it. The club supporting the eSports players, as well as developing skills away from the game, will help them become role models in public. This not only includes their fans but also young people who watch eSports as their passion and look for a role model.
In this context, it is of crucial significance that Bayer 04 conveys a realistic image of the role of a professional eSports player to their followers. By striving for authenticity and "realness", the players create a connection to their community and inspire others to follow their passion. Bayer 04 believes that eSports should not only be seen as virtual entertainment but also as a serious career opportunity with long-term prospects.
Bayer 04 emphasises the significance of training for its eSports players. With responsible interaction, the promotion of know-how and self organisation plus the transmission of a realistic image of a professional eSports player, Bayer 04 creates a solid base for a successful career and, at the same time, supports the personal development and role model aspect of its players.

Bayer 04 is firmly convinced that only openness to new ideas – above all in the area of technology – is the key to progressive development on all levels.
Bayer 04 understands that the focus in producing such technology is working in close cooperation with the eSports players. Bayer 04 including the players in the development process enables individual requirements and needs to be taken into account.

"But to talk negatively about everything now because of that would be wrong," stressed captain Robert Andrich following the final game, knowing that the past year at Bayer 04 was marked, more than almost any other, by the start of a new era and the courage to change – and in particular, the belief in a positive direction.
