
As one of the 16 teams with the most points out of 35 teams in the online preliminary round, the #B04eSports team are looking to go through to the offline knockout round, which will take place at the third showdown on Friday, 19 December, in Cologne, where the target is a showdown victory plus further important points in the overall table. The points from all online preliminary rounds (3 per win) and offline rounds (2 per win) of the five showdowns will be added together in this table to decide who makes it to the final round of the German Club Championship next year.
Bayer 04 are currently 16th in the Showdown Three table with six points, having scored three points in the first three matches of this online preliminary round against Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Schalke 04 respectively. HERE is the match report.
It all starts today, Tuesday, with game four of six in the online preliminary round against Elversberg, who are currently 22nd in the Showdown Three table with three points and - as it stands - would not make it through to the offline round. The Elv-eSport team beat SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The games against Fortuna Düsseldorf and Eintracht Braunschweig ended in defeat. Elversberg missed out on a place in the offline round in the previous two showdowns. Elversberg's Felix ‘IFELIIX23’ Breitkopf" is currently the strongest defender of all 92 players who have played in the VBL CC so far.

The next game will be against Heidenheim, currently 17th in the preliminary round with six points and 20th overall. In the first showdown, FCH reached the offline knockout round, but were eliminated in the Round of 16 by SC Paderborn 07, who Bayer 04 in turn on the way to winning the showdown in both the preliminary round and the semi-finals. Heidenheim missed out on the offline round in the second showdown.

Another top club awaits in the final match of this online preliminary round. Düsseldorf won all of their first three matches last week and are in fourth place in the preliminary round table. In both previous showdowns, the F95 eSports team also made to the offline round, but were eliminated in the Round of 16. First against Leverkusen's final opponents RB Leipzig, then against 1. FC Magdeburg. Fortuna finished eleventh in the overall table. With Antonio ‘ANTONIORADELJA’ Radelja, Düsseldorf also has a top player in its ranks. Last season, Radelja played for VfB Stuttgart in the VBL Grand Final by WOW, the German singles championship that traditionally takes place after the final event of the club championship. He made it through the preliminary round and advanced to the Round of 16, where he lost out to the eventual singles champion Levy Finn ‘RBLZ_LEVYFINN’ Rieck (RB Leipzig). Fortuna's Fabio ‘F95_FABIO’ Immerthal also reached the Grand Final last season, but missed out on the knockout phase.

The Werkself beat Olympiacos 2-0 in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League play-off first leg to claim a crucial victory in the Greek capital. After a focused first-half display with a number of presentable chances, Patrik Schick crowned a textbook counter to hand the Werkself the lead on the hour (60’). The Czech rounded off his brace when he headed in from a corner just 144 seconds later. Bayer 04 maintained their lead with aplomb to achieve a good position for the return leg in Leverkusen.

Bayer 04 and Olympiacos had only met twice before the current UEFA Champions campaign. After the encounter on Matchday 7 of this season’s league phase, the Werkself travel to face the Greek side for the second time in just four weeks for the knockout play-off first leg. The Black and Reds were dominant for large spells in mid-January but lost 2-0 after missing a number of presentable chances. A bitter end to the fifth showdown of the 2025/26 VBL Club Championship as the #B04eSports team failed to take any points in the three remaining matches of the preliminary online round of the fifth and final showdown, missing out on the offline round. They can no longer take points in the overall table. Bayer 04 slipped out on the top eight, so direct participation in the final event for the German Club Championship is no longer possible, with Bayer 04 having to contest the play-offs.
