Leverkusen now have 53 points on the board in the northwest table, just one ahead of Fortuna Düsseldorf in eighth and Hamburg in ninth. Borussia Dortmund and Köln sit 10th and 11th respectively with 50 points each and are still in contention for the play-offs, which see the teams placed third through eighth in both divisions attempt to qualify for the finals.

Lucas Vázquez was the hero in Saturday's 1-0 home win against Werder Bremen, when the Spaniard scored his first Bundesliga goal to secure an important victory for Leverkusen.
