
The matchday opened with the game against VfL Wolfsburg. Marc 'MARC_LDW23' Landwehr took on the 16-year-old eSports talent Elias ‘ELIAS’ Eichler, whose first VBL CC season it is, and drew 3-3. Sean 'SEAN_LDW07' Landwehr and Eleftherios ‘LEFTI’ Ilias, the Wolfsburg eSports player had a player in his team who was not permitted under the squad restrictions, the match was ended early in accordance with the rules and a 3-0 score awarded to Bayer 04. The overall victory thus went to the Landwehr cousins.
The matches against Eintracht Braunschweig continued. Luca ‘DER_ERDKLUMPEN’ Rosowski lost 2-1 to Marc Landwehr, who took control of the game from the start, before Sean Landwehr secured the three points with a 6-2 win against Dennis ‘THAA_DEUS’ Erdmann.
SpVgg Greuther Fürth awaited at the end of the matchday. Marc Landwehr gave Manuel ‘MXNUABT’ Albrecht no chance in the first game and won 5-1, while Luan ‘LUBAPPE6’ Waldleitner then lost 2-1 to Sean Landwehr. The next three points were secured.

With nine points, Leverkusen have made a perfect start to the final showdown and are in third place in the Showdown Five table. As usual, after the online round, only the 16 teams with the most points out of 35 will progress to the offline knockout round, which this time takes place in Stuttgart on 22 February.
In the overall table where points from all online preliminary rounds (3 per game) and offline rounds (2 per game) are added up, Bayer 04 are currently in eighth place. In the final duels, it is time to go full throttle again and pick up points! After this fifth showdown, the overall table will decide who goes through to the final round of the club championship on 7/8 March (direct qualification for places 1-8, play-off round for places 9-24). Bayer 04 (58 points) have a four-point lead over ninth-placed VfL Bochum 1848 (54 points).
The #B04eSports team are in action again with the final three matches of the Showdown Five preliminary round. They face FC Nürnberg, FC Magdeburg and FC Bayern Munich. A profile of the next opponents will follow on Tuesday. The matchday kicks off at 18:00 CET and the games will be shown on the club Twitch channel and on the Bayer 04 app.

The final whistle of the current 2025/26 season marks the end of a unique partnership for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. After more than three decades of collaboration and highly eventful times, the Bundesliga football club and the private brewery Bitburger are going their separate ways.

A simple approach to sport with games, fun and a highlight at the end: Bayer 04 organised a very special training session for 40 participants aged between six and 27 in cooperation with the Football Association of the Middle Rhine (FVM). At the day of action for women and girls with disabilities at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre, many of the participants gained their first experience of football.

On Saturday, 28 March, the lights will go out again at the BayArena from 20:30 pm to 21:30. As in previous years, Bayer 04 once again take part in the WWF Earth Hour campaign under the motto "We're switching off" as the club wants to set a collective example for more climate and environmental protection together with people, cities and companies around the world.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen are bringing back Kerim Alajbegovic, who joined Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2025. The Bundesliga club activated the buy-back option in the contract with the Bosnia international, who has enjoyed great success at the Austrian top-flight club since the start of the current season. Alajbegovic moved to Salzburg from the Leverkusen U19s last year. The 1.86-metre forward has signed a five-year contract at Leverkusen with a start date of 1 July 2026.

Less than a year ago, Kerim Alajbegovic moved from the Bayer 04 U19s to Austrian top-flight club FC Red Bull Salzburg. The forward’s development since then has been impressive. In 36 matches, including in the UEFA Europa League, the 18-year-old has scored 14 goals. In the summer, Alajbegovic, now a Bosnia international, will return to Leverkusen - and thus not only achieve the next milestone still early in his career, but also enrich the Werkself squad with his footballing versatility and determination.
