The Bayer 04 console players kicked off Tuesday night with a match against Hamburg SV, the current leaders of the North-West division. Marc ‘Marc_LDW23’ Landwehr " began with a one-on-one encounter on PlayStation 5. It looked like the game would end goalless but the Leverkusen player conceded late on. A draw would have been fair given the parity in shots on goal.
That was followed by the one-on-one on Xbox for Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ de Cae. The recovered 24-year-old drew with his Hamburg opposite number Steffen ‘FUNINO’ Pöppe with neither side scoring.
In the following two vs two, ‘FURKY’ swapped his commentator mic for his controller with the new signing alongside ‘MARC_LDW23’ – with success! The Black and Red duo beat HSV 1-0 thanks to a late goal with Bayer 04 securing an overall result of 4-4 against the league leaders.
The team identity of the Leverkusen players was not only evident on the consoles: ‘B04_DUBZJE’ and Paul ‘B04_PAUL’ Degner stepped in for 'Furky' during the two vs two clash as presenters of the live stream.
The games against SC Paderborn 07 began later in the evening with the Werkself starting with the same players as against Hamburg. And ‘MARC_LDW23’ was able to pick up three points in his one-on-one and PS 5: There was a 2-1 win for the first three points against Paderborn’s Jannis ‘JISTENNSQ’ Pütz. The following one-on-one on Xbox again ended goalless for ‘B04_DUBZJE’ and the Black and Reds were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline in the two vs two game.
The results make Kayacik and Co. the best defence of all the teams in the North-West division: They have only conceded 19 goals in total so far.
After eight VBL Club Champions matchdays, the #B04eSports players are fifth in division on 35 points. The gap to the top spot is only five points. Bayer 04 are back in action next Tuesday, 7 December, with matches against Werder Bremen (18.00 CET) and Hansa Rostock (20.00 CET). This special event showed once again how strong Bayer 04 are as a team: As part of ‘BarmeniaGothaer gives joy’, the Werkself players Edmond Tapsoba, Ibrahim Maza and Christian Kofane supported the sale of individually designed T-shirts for a good cause at the Fanwelt on Thursday. Several hundred fans came to take part in the charity campaign. Leverkusen's main sponsor BarmeniaGothaer donated the proceeds to the Fondation Edmond Tapsoba, which helps people in Tapsoba's home country of Burkina Faso in their challenging everyday lives.

Rüdiger Vollborn has been at the club for 40 years, he holds the record number of Bundesliga appearances for the club (401) and is the only Bayer 04 player to have won both the UEFA Cup (1988) and the DFB Pokal (1993). And the Berliner stayed with the Werkself after ending his impressive playing career as he worked as a goalkeeping coach for the following nine years. Edmond Tapsoba has signed an early extension to his contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. With two years left on his current deal, the 27-year-old Burkina Faso international has extended his contract until 30 June 2031. The centre-back joined as a young talent from Portuguese top-flight club Vitoria Guimaraes at the start of 2020.
