The Bayer 04 console players kicked off Tuesday night with a match against Hamburg SV, the current leaders of the North-West division. Marc ‘Marc_LDW23’ Landwehr " began with a one-on-one encounter on PlayStation 5. It looked like the game would end goalless but the Leverkusen player conceded late on. A draw would have been fair given the parity in shots on goal.
That was followed by the one-on-one on Xbox for Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ de Cae. The recovered 24-year-old drew with his Hamburg opposite number Steffen ‘FUNINO’ Pöppe with neither side scoring.
In the following two vs two, ‘FURKY’ swapped his commentator mic for his controller with the new signing alongside ‘MARC_LDW23’ – with success! The Black and Red duo beat HSV 1-0 thanks to a late goal with Bayer 04 securing an overall result of 4-4 against the league leaders.
The team identity of the Leverkusen players was not only evident on the consoles: ‘B04_DUBZJE’ and Paul ‘B04_PAUL’ Degner stepped in for 'Furky' during the two vs two clash as presenters of the live stream.
The games against SC Paderborn 07 began later in the evening with the Werkself starting with the same players as against Hamburg. And ‘MARC_LDW23’ was able to pick up three points in his one-on-one and PS 5: There was a 2-1 win for the first three points against Paderborn’s Jannis ‘JISTENNSQ’ Pütz. The following one-on-one on Xbox again ended goalless for ‘B04_DUBZJE’ and the Black and Reds were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline in the two vs two game.
The results make Kayacik and Co. the best defence of all the teams in the North-West division: They have only conceded 19 goals in total so far.
After eight VBL Club Champions matchdays, the #B04eSports players are fifth in division on 35 points. The gap to the top spot is only five points. Bayer 04 are back in action next Tuesday, 7 December, with matches against Werder Bremen (18.00 CET) and Hansa Rostock (20.00 CET). Once again in the last four! Bayer 04 put in a mature and, for long stretches, commanding performance to defeat a courageous FC St. Pauli in the quarter-finals of the 2025/26 DFB Pokal to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the third time in a row. Martin Terrier gave Leverkusen the lead on 32 minutes before Patrik Schick made it 2-0 on 63 minutes. Substitute Jonas Hofmann capped off a strong second half for the Werkself with the third goal in added time.

As in the past two years, the Werkself are aiming to come out on top in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals on Tuesday night, 3 February (kick-off: 20:45 CET). With eleven home games in a row without defeat against the Kiezkicker, the Black and Reds go into the floodlit match in confident mood. But the Pokal, as is often said, has its own magic and the team from the Millerntor has much more to offer than the current 17th place in the Bundesliga would suggest. The Leverkusen eSports team picked up valuable points and made up ground in the overall table with a top four finish in the offline round in Showdown 4 in the VBL Club Championship 2025/26. In the round of 16, Showdown 1 winners Bayer 04 defeated the unbeaten runners-up in the previous round, VfL Bochum, in a thrilling penalty shoot-out. The Landwehr cousins, themselves the current club runners-up, then beat the current club champions and Showdown 3 winners RB Leipzig. It was not until the semi-finals that they lost out to the eventual showdown winners Borussia Mönchengladbach.
