
The matchday started with the games against 1. FC Nürnberg. Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr beat Mazlum ‘MAZI’ Dogan 4-2, but Nürnberg took three points after Sean ‘SEAN_LDW07’ lost 4-1 to Yannick ‘KLASTOCKY’ Grum.
Next up were the matches against 1. FC Magdeburg, who had topped the Showdown Five table on nine points from three matches before the matchday. Marc lost 4-3 to Muhammed Ali ‘ALIIIG07’ Gencer, and Sean’s 2-2 draw against Onur Can ‘ONUR_38P’ Polat wasn’t enough to take points.
Bayer 04 were up against Showdown Four finalists Bayern Munich in the final match of the day. Marc lost 5-1 to Furkan ‘FURKYPLAYZ’ Kayack (at Bayer 04 from 2021 to 2023) before Sean fell 3-2 to Koray ‘KKORAY_’ Kücükgünar.

The Leverkusen esports team finish the preliminary round on nine points in 18th place, missing out on the offline knockout round in Stuttgart on 22 February.
In the overall table, where the points from all preliminary online rounds (three per game) and offline rounds (two per game) are combined, they are currently in ninth place. Having missed the offline round, Bayer 04 can no longer collect points to advance to the top eight in the overall table to qualify directly for the final event for the club championship on 7 and 8 March.
Like all teams in places 9-24, the #B04eSports team will contest the play-offs on 25 February. Bayer 04 will learn the identity of their opponents when the overall table is finalised after the offline duels of the fifth showdown.

The Germany U19 team were beaten 2-0 by record champions Spain in the final of the U19 European Championship in Wales. Bayer 04 players Montrell Culbreath and Francis Onyeka (on loan at SV 07 Elversberg) were in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes.

Bayer 04 Women have boosted their firepower with the signing of Poland international Paulina Tomasiak. The 24-year-old striker moves to Leverkusen from Gornik Leczna in her homeland on a two-year contract.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed France U17 international Kenan Doganay. The 1.90-metre-tall defensive midfielder, who has Turkish roots, joins Leverkusen from the U19s at French top-flight club Olympique Lyon. He will initially train with and play for the U19 team.

The Sports Tribunal of the German Football Association (DFB) has fined Bayer 04 Leverkusen €185,000 for spectators setting off pyrotechnic devices during a total of five competitive matches. This relates to four Bundesliga matches and the DFB Pokal semi-final against Bayern Munich. The highest individual fine relates to the away match at FC Köln at the end of April.
