With over 2,500 participants, the French winger had the most votes with 26.9%. The 21-year-old just pipped last year's winner Kai Havertz (25.2%). The new Werkself captain Charles Aránguiz came in third with exactly 12% of the votes.
"It means a lot to me that I was able to thrill the Bayer 04 fans in my first season. This award is a great honour for me. It motivates me to give everything for the Werkself in the coming season," said Moussa Diaby, highly delighted with the title.
Bayer 04 again provided great prizes for Bayer 04 Club members who took part in the vote. The main winner, Charles M. from Leverkusen can look forward to receiving the shirt of his namesake Charles Aránguiz worn in the Europa League game against Rangers. Absolutely unique – including the 'Thank you' lettering above the badge. Very fitting that the Leverkusener also voted for the young Frenchman: "The decisive factor with Moussa Diaby for me was his development into a spectacular attacker. His fast pace in combination with his dribbling ability excited me. I'm very happy that my vote for him turned out to win the main prize."
In addition, Claudia C. from Bergisch Gladbach won the new home shirt and David W. from Remscheid the new away shirt. On top of that, Bayer 04 gave away four vouchers for €19.04 at the Bayer 04 shop. The winners have already been informed. Bayer 04 offer congratulations and wish all the winners lots of fun with the prizes.
Bundesliga champions Bayer 04 have also dominated the division’s Team of the Season after football fans around the world named Jonathan Tah, Alejandro Grimaldo, Jeremie Frimpong, Granit Xhaka, Florian Wirtz and Victor Boniface in the Bundesliga’s best XI for 2023/24, in cooperation with EA Sports.

The visitors have the chance to be crowned champions in the Google Pixel Bundesliga, just like then they last came to Leverkusen 12 months ago. A goalless draw on that occasion saw Robert de Pauw’s side delay the title celebrations, and they want to do the same again with three games to go.
Show moreOnly a few hours after the Werkself’s 2-0 win away at Roma in the UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg, attentions turned to the next game as Bayer 04 visit Eintracht Frankfurt for Bundesliga Matchday 32 on Sunday (kick-off: 5.30pm CEST). Speaking at his press conference in Rome shortly before returning to Leverkusen on Friday morning, head coach Xabi Alonso talked about the strengths of six-placed Frankfurt and how the team will handle his touchline suspension.
Show moreRobert Andrich’s brilliant goal in Rome came with the same right foot that he broke exactly a year ago in the same stadium. It was also only the second time Bayer 04 had won an away game in Italy, after victory at Udinese in the UEFA Cup in November 1999. Lots of subplots and a mature performance means hope of reaching the final in Dublin is high. We round up events in the Eternal City in our Werkself review.
