Match travel is a major issue for every Werkself home game. As the transport service provider in Leverkusen and the region, wupsi and Bayer 04 therefore entered into a close and reliable partnership many years ago, which has continued to develop over the years.
For example, wupsi supports Bayer 04 on matchdays by providing a comprehensive scheduled and shuttle bus service for home and visiting fans, who can travel directly to the BayArena from major hubs such as railway stations, bus stations or park-and-ride areas with wupsi. The bus service is supplemented by other mobility options such as the wupsiRad, which can also be used for travelling to the stadium.
And this option is now being expanded: From January 2026, Bayer 04 and wupsi will be expanding their partnership, with 100 Bayer 04-branded wupsi bikes available for hire throughout the city. In addition to travelling to the stadium, these can of course also be used for any other journey within the city.
Bayer 04 and wupsi are thus supplementing their fleet - which already consists of wupsi service buses and a wupsi coach in Bayer 04 livery - and are taking the next step together in favour of sustainable, environmentally friendly and resource-saving travel in and for Leverkusen. In addition, Bayer 04 and wupsi are relieving the city of the heavy volume of car traffic and the associated pressure on parking spaces.

Sandwiched between their UEFA Champions League knockout play-off tie against Olympiacos, Bayer 04 return to Bundesliga action on Saturday with a trip to Union Berlin (kick-off: 15:30 CET). It’s a fixture of contrasting styles, with Leverkusen preferring to control the play while Union look to remain compact and counter. The Berliners are therefore suited to facing top teams, but they have only ever managed to win one of 16 meetings with the Werkself, who are looking for a fifth clean sheet of 2026 but will need to beware the home side’s threat from set pieces. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game in our matchday news.

It took exactly 60 minutes for the Werkself to take the lead through a perfectly finished counter-attack by Patrik Schick in the first leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League play-off at Olympiacos. Referring to the meeting in the league phase and the initially squandered opportunities, coach Kasper Hjulmand said afterwards: "I thought: 'Oh no, déjà-vu.'" But after the opening goal, it took just 144 seconds for the Czech to spark more wild celebrations among those in black and red in the Greek cauldron, when Schick nodded in Alejandro Grimaldo's corner. Much to the delight of the Bayer 04 fans, his teammates and his coach, who had warm words for the striker in the aftermath. The Werkself Review.
