The Welt am Sonntag writes of a "wonder goal" in explaining the opener scored by Nadiem Amiri on ten minutes as follows: "A lightning move saw the ball end up with Wirtz. The 17-year-old lobbed the ball to Amiri who converted with a back-heel." But then the report continues: "A wonder goal after which Leverkusen lost their way."

Bild am Sonntag writes about a masterpiece from Amiri, the first Bundesliga goal in the calendar year, and even a "guarantee" for a nomination as Goal of the Month on the ARD Sportschau. But the tabloid continues: "Great football but not much after that."

F.A.S.: "Entertaining game"

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (F.A.S.) looks at the Frankfurt equaliser scored by Amin Younes (22'). The report says: "Djibril Sow put Younes through with a pass and the summer signing from Napoli skilfully converted the chance to level at 1-1. The action constantly went from end to end in this eminently entertaining game between two impressive teams."

The Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger headline reads: "Bayer run out of creativity." In the categories in the following report, under the heading "That was bad" is: "The Werkself completely lacked the compact approach which makes the attacking system of Peter Bosz possible. […] The league leaders from matchday twelve failed to produce danger or pressure going forwards."

In the individual ratings in the newspaper, Amiri had the best mark for the Werkself of ‘2.5’. The provider of the assist Florian Wirtz was given a ‘3’ and goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky ‘3.5’.

"There was a lack of decisive ideas"

The match report in the Rheinische Post draws the following conclusion: "Bayer’s offensive efforts remained […] too cautious and there was a lack of decisive ideas. […] Leverkusen's best opportunity to equalise came with a slightly unfortunate attempted clearance by Frankfurt's Martin Hinteregger that hit the crossbar (82'). The match ended in a deserved 2-1 win for Eintracht."
