Werkself start Bundesliga season on 17 August

The first opponents for the Werkself in Bundesliga season number 75 were already known two weeks ago. This Wednesday, the German Football League (DFL) have announced the exact timings for the first six matchdays.

The opening match against newly promoted SC Paderborn on Saturday 17 August kicks off at 15.30 CET at the BayArena. The following Werkself fixtures are all on Saturday afternoons – including the away game at Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund on 14 September.

Details of matchdays 1 to 6: 

Matchday 1: Saturday 17 August (15.30 CET): SC Paderborn (Home game)
Matchday 2: Saturday 24 August (15.30 CET): Fortuna Düsseldorf (Away game)
Matchday 3: Saturday 31 August (15.30 CET): TSG Hoffenheim (H)
Matchday 4: Saturday 14 September (15.30 CET): Borussia Dortmund (A)
Matchday 5: Saturday 21 September (15.30 CET): Union Berlin (H)
Matchday 6: Saturday 28 September (15.30 CET): FC Augsburg (A)

Werkself miss out on first win after 3-3 draw at Werder Bremen

Bayer 04 are still without a win in the Bundesliga after two games following a 3-3 draw away at Werder Bremen. Leverkusen had gone 2-0 up through Patrik Schick and Malik Tillman, before Romano Schmid’s penalty prior to half-time. Schick’s own spot-kick restored the two-goal advantage in the second half as Werder were reduced to 10 men, but Isaac Schmidt got the hosts back into it again before Karim Coulibaly’s added-time equaliser.
