Werkself start Bundesliga campaign at Gladbach
Bayer 04 kick off the 54th Bundesliga season at Borussia Mönchengladbach in a Saturday night game on 27 August. The DFL confirms first five matchdays.
The first competitive fixtures for the Werkself have been confirmed by the German Football League (DFL): Bayer 04 start the 54th Bundesliga season with an away game at Borussia Mönchengladbach at 18.30 CET on Saturday 27 August.
The DFL has announced details of the first five league games. Roger Schmidt’s team has three Saturday afternoon fixtures with the first home game against Hamburg SV and the away matches at Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05. The second Werkself home fixture against FC Augsburg is a Wednesday night match at 20.00 CET.

That was the outcome of the draw held on Tuesday night, 19 August, following the play-offs staged for the first time. The Regional League team beat Fortuna Köln 4-2 on penalties. The DFB Pokal opener for the Werkself will be played between 27 and 29 September with the date of the game to be confirmed.
