
Traffic jams and delays on the road plus delays on the trains between Cologne and Bonn are possible at the weekend and may affect large number of fans attending the derby. From Friday night (27 October, 22.00 CET) to Monday morning (30 October, 05.00 CET) the A1 at the Cologne North motorway intersection will be closed in both directions to all through traffic due to the installation of two temporary bridges. The A1 in the direction of Dortmund will be closed from the Koln Bocklemund. The access in the direction of Dortmund will be closed from 20.00 CET.
The following routes at the motorway intersection Cologne North cannot be used:
The A57 is fully open. The A1 junction of Koln Niehl and connections from the A1 (coming from Dortmund) to the A57 in the direction of Krefeld and from the A57 (coming from Krefeld) to the A1 to complaints and from the A57 (coming from Cologne) to the A1 to Dortmund.
Long-distance traffic should avoid the area. The following diversions are recommended and are marked with a red spot: in the direction of Koblenz from the Leverkusen intersection take the A3 (in the direction of Frankfurt) and A4 (in the detection of (Aachen). In the direction of Dortmund it is recommended from the Cologne West intersection to take the A4 (in the direction of Olpe) and the A3 (in the direction of Oberhausen). In addition, local diversions are marked with the red spot.
As a result of work on tracks in the Cologne metropolitan area there are also train cancellations: From Friday (23.00 CET) to Monday (04.00 CET) train services RE5 and RB26 between Bruhl and Roisdorf, the RB48 between Brühl and Bonn will be replaced by buses due to track renewal in Sechtem. In addition, the RE5 will not run between Koblenz and Remagen on Saturday (and Sunday).

Roberto Pätzold's team have fled the cold to the south and are preparing for the second half of the season at a training camp in the Algarve, almost 2,000 kilometres away from home as the crow flies.
