...the personnel situation: „"As was the case last week, Panos Retsos (rehab after thigh muscle injury, ed.) and Joel Pohjanpalo (light training after ankle injury,ed.) are not yet available but all the others are ready."
…work over the past few weeks: "We've worked a lot again: We've got time for that because there is no busy run of fixtures at the moment. We have to improve in a lot of areas – above all we have to be more compact. That was evident in the first half against Gladbach. But also our finishing and the final pass are important in football. And that has to get even better for example."
…the next opponents: "When you're playing for a European position then you have to have a good team. I watched Wolfsburg on Sunday in the game against Schalke: For me, they were clearly the better team although they lost in the end (2-1, ed.). They played some really good football and were not afraid and weren't afraid of playing out from the back. I think, tomorrow – as it was against Gladbach – it will be a game between two teams who want to play football. I'm expecting an exciting encounter."
…the strategy against Wolfsburg: "Of course, we're going there to win the game. It won't be easy as Wolfsburg have a good team. But we showed against Gladbach the we also have a good team. That's why I believe there will be chances to win at Wolfsburg."
…the importance of the game in view of the target of qualifying for Europe: "Every game is important in the second half of the season: The match against Wolfsburg is exactly as important as all the other games we have to play. We're chasing so we have to try and win all the games."
…Leon Bailey: "Leon played well in the friendlies over the winter break – he was important because of his goals too. I hope he can repeat these performances and score again as he did in the earlier match against Wolfsburg this season. He's a good, important player but he needs to improve – just like the other players. I think Leon is capable of much more."

A fresh look for the BayArena: The Bayer 04 stadium will have new seating in the form of folding seats for the 2026/27 campaign that will ensure significantly improved seating comfort and simplified movement within the rows of seats. As part of routine replacement after 17 years, fans of the Werkself were able to purchase the existing seats, used to witness the first German league title in the club's history. In addition, a large proportion of the seats will be donated to charitable projects, primarily in the local region. Bayer 04 fans can look forward to new, functional folding seats for the season opener at the beginning of August - still in the club colours of black and red, of course.
