Pohjanpalo back on the training ground

Good news for Joel Pohjanpalo. The 24-year-old Finn, who has been sidelined for several months due to a problem with his right ankle, started training again on Monday. After making his comeback in the friendly against Ajax, he suffered a relapse at the start of April that has kept him out of action until now.

The  striker completed a 60-minute individual session on the ball accompanied by Carsten Rademacher, head of the rehab therapy department.

Peter Bosz and his fellow coaches were on the neighbouring pitch as preparations start for the final game of the season in Berlin on Saturday (15.30 CET, live text commentary and web radio in German at bayer04.de). Panos Retsos also took part in full training after missing out recently due to a toe injury. While Charles Aránguiz, Sven Bender, Kevin Volland and Wendell all trained on their own away from their team-mates, Lars Bender and Julian Baumgartlinger started the week in the performance centre at the BayArena. Both had to go off on Saturday's game against Schalke due to muscle problems and foot pains – Peter Bosz is optimistic about their availability for the game against Hertha at the weekend.
