Union have won only one of their 11 Bundesliga games against Leverkusen (four draws, six defeats), while they are yet to win at all at the BayArena in the Bundesliga (two draws, three defeats) and have conceded a total of 14 goals. They have only let in more away at Borussia Dortmund in the top flight (23).
However, the Berliners have won their last two Bundesliga away games. A third would equal the club record that they last managed in January/February 2023. They have won three of their last four matches on the road, which is as many as in their previous 29 combined.

Union have hit a bit of a run after a season of ups and downs. They are the form team over the last four matchdays with 10 points gained, which looks to have ended any serious worries about relegation. Nevertheless, Steffen Baumgart’s side will still come to the BayArena looking to play with their usual high intensity. “We want to play our game with simple and clear football, and that’s got a lot to do with a certain level of aggression and mentality,” their head coach said. The German FA (DFB) have appointed Bastian Dankert as today’s referee. The 44-year-old has previously overseen 16 Bundesliga games involving the Werkself (eight wins, two draws and six defeats). His assistants are René Rohde and Marcel Unger; the VAR is Benjamin Cortus.
