Kai Havertz voted Player of the Month

04 games, 04 goals – thanks to impressive performances and important goals Kai Havertz has impressed football fans – suitably – in the 04th month of the year: The Werkself number 29 has been voted Player of the Month for April. In a fan vote organised by the German Football League and EA SPORTS, he came out on top ahead of Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich) and Marco Richter (FC Augsburg).

It's all going right for Kai Havertz at the moment: Ahead of the crucial final game of the season for the Werkself in Berlin, the 19-year-old midfielder is Leverkusen's top scorer with 16 goals. In the second half of the Bundesliga campaign he has scored ten goals. And in the last six matches the exceptionally talented youngster found the back of the net six times for the Black and Reds – four of them in the four fixtures in April: In the home game against Leipzig (2-4), Havertz netted a brace, in Stuttgart he secured the victory in the 1-0 win and also at Augsburg (4-1) his goal put the team on course for victory after the break.

The fans have recognised his performances and made the Germany international the Player of the Month for April. Following Julian Brandt (February), Havertz is the second Bayer 04 player to receive the award this year. Congratulations!

The official award of Player of the Month has been given for the first time in the current Bundesliga season. The vote is carried out by the German Football League (DFL) in cooperation with the official partner of the Bundesliga EA SPORTS FIFA 19. The award is made according to a two- track procedure that takes into account the individual performance data of the player as well as the votes of the fans and experts.

Second game, second draw in the UEFA Champions League 2025/26: The Werkself were held to a 1-1 draw by Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven on matchday two in the league phase. After an early but brief setback in the form of an offside goal by Ivan Perisic for the visitors (5'), the Werkself took control and created numerous good chances in the first half. Leverkusen took a deserved lead after the break in the 65th minute through Christian Kofane. However, PSV's Ismael Saibari replied a few minutes later to level at 1-1 (72').

Bayer 04 beat PSV Eindhoven 3-2 on matchday two to clock up the next three points in the UCL Youth League 2025/26. In front of just under 500 spectators at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, the visitors from the Netherlands led at half-time, but the Werkself turned the game round in the second 45. That makes it two wins on the bounce after the victory in Copenhagen.
