Havertz and Brandt in Bundesliga 'Team of the Season'
Bayer 04 have two players in the official Bundesliga 'Team of the Season': Kai Havertz and Julian Brandt were voted into the top starting eleven for the 2018/19 campaign.
After an exciting season, the Bundesliga looked for the top players in an online fan poll. 40 candidates were selected according to official match data based on their performances over the course of the season. The result was a best eleven in a 4-3-3 line-up of players receiving the most votes per position.
Kai Havertz came out on top in the midfield section alongside Filip Kostic (Eintracht Frankfurt), Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho (both Borussia Dortmund). Julian Brandt received the most votes in the attack section. He impressed the fans along with Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) and Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt).
Former Werkself player Danny Da Costa (Eintracht Frankfurt), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) plus Marcel Halstenberg (RB Leipzig) in defence along with Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt) in goal complete the 'Team of the Season'.
The partnership of the Bundesliga and EA Sports sees Havertz and Brandt also included in the starting line-up for FUT 19 Bundesliga Team of the Season. And EA Sports also include Kevin Volland in the squad.

Setback in Nuremberg: Bayer 04 women suffer first away defeat
After nine points from their first three away matches of the 2026/27 season, the Bayer 04 Women suffered their first away defeat on Sunday afternoon. The 2-0 defeat away to FC Nürnberg, who were winless before today, represented a setback for coach Roberto Pätzold’s team in the race for the top spots in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga. Fany Pronietz scored both goals (62’, 85’) for the home side.

Werkself winning run ends with 3-0 defeat at TSG
After six consecutive wins, the Werkself have hit a rough patch: Bayer 04 lost 3-0 away to TSG Hoffenheim. Andrej Kramaric put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot (79'), with Alexander Prass and Max Moerstedt adding to the tally shortly before full-time (89’/90+5’). After ten matches under Carles Martínez, with the Black and Reds always scoring at least twice, Leverkusen failed to find the net for the first time.

Matchday news: Strong form and on a roll
The Werkself still have a score to settle with TSG Hoffenheim: Bayer 04 lost both matches against the Kraichgau side last term – after the Black and Reds had won all the previous five encounters.
