The final Bundesliga matchday of the calendar year is set for 18 to 21 December; the last football of the year will be the second round of the DFB Cup on 22 and 23 December.
The winter break is severely reduced this season due to the tight timeframe. It begins after matchday 13 (18 to 21 December 2019) and ends on New Year's Day. The league resumes on 2 to 4 January with matchday 14. The final day of the season is due to be on Saturday 22 May. There are a total of three weekday matchdays: In the first half of the season on matchday 12 (15/16 December) plus in the second half of the season on matchdays 17 (19/20 January) and matchday 30 (20/21 April).
The Round of 16 in the DFB Cup is due to be played on 2/3 February, the quarter-finals on 2/3 March. The DFB Cup final will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on Thursday, 13 May 2021 (Ascension Day) and, for once, played before the conclusion of the league competition. This is caused by the crowded fixture programme due to the later start to the season.
"All the planned events in the DFB framework fixture list for the 2020/2021 season are subject to official approval locally for matches to be played. Adjustments for individual competitions due to a worsening of the pandemic or changed regulations continue to be possible," announced the DFB.
Based on the agreed framework fixture list, the German Football League (DFL) will produce the fixture list for the 2020/21 season in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 over the next few weeks.
