Bellarabi shirt in German Football Museum

Karim Bellarabi scored the opening goal for Bayer 04 at FC Augsburg on 23 minutes to write another chapter in the history of football on 17 February 2017. The shirt, worn by the Germany international when he scored the 50,000th goal in the history of the Bundesliga, now has a permanent place in the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The museum has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) 2017.

As part of the permanent exhibition of the history of German football, the shirt will be placed in the current decade section for the Bundesliga. "We are very happy that Bayer 04 have again contributed to the history of German football," said CEO Michael Schade. "The museum, that I got to know and value last year, is welcome to receive more from us. It’s good we were able to provide a new exhibit in the shape of the shirt worn by Karim Bellarabi."

"The 50,000th Bundesliga goal is a great example of how the history of football is permanently and spectacularly rewritten. That provides a boost for our museum that not only houses historical items but also makes current events come to life. We are very pleased to receive this loan from Karim Bellarabi and we would like to congratulate him on that special goal," said museum director Manuel Neukirchner.

"It's a really great thing and I'm proud of it. You don't get to write Bundesliga history every day," said Bellarabi who has already contributed to the history of the league with the fastest goal in an away game at Borussia Dortmund in 2014. "I dedicate this goal to my family and my friend Hakan Calhanoglu."

The Werkself beat Olympiacos 2-0 in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League play-off first leg to claim a crucial victory in the Greek capital. After a focused first-half display with a number of presentable chances, Patrik Schick crowned a textbook counter to hand the Werkself the lead on the hour (60’). The Czech rounded off his brace when he headed in from a corner just 144 seconds later. Bayer 04 maintained their lead with aplomb to achieve a good position for the return leg in Leverkusen.
