#B04D98 - Countdown to kick-off

The match will be refereed by Harm Osmers from Hannover with the help of linesmen Florian Heft and Thomas Gorniak. The fourth official is Guido Kleve. The hashtag for this game is #B04D98.

The record

Bayer 04 and Darmstadt meet for the fifth time in the Bundesliga. The Werkself lead with three victories (one defeat).

Never give up

The Werkself came from behind for the third time in the Bundesliga this term on matchday nine to win 2-1 at VfL Wolfsburg. No other team has achieved that more than once in the 2016/17 campaign to date. Matchday two saw a 3-1 win at HSV and the fifth matchday brought a 3-2 victory at Mainz.

Room for improvement

Darmstadt lost five of the first nine league games – the last time the Lilies lost that number of games at the same point was in their first season in the Bundesliga top flight in 1978/79. Darmstadt are on eight points, five less than in 2015/16. Darmstadt have lost two games on the bounce for the first time under Norbert Meier and have gone two matches without scoring for the first under their new coach.

Lilies weak away from home

To date the Lilies are the only team not to pick up a least one point on their travels this season. Darmstadt have lost four games away from home with a goal difference of 1 to 11.

If Darmstadt lose in Leverkusen they will set a club record: The Lilies have only lost five away games in succession in the Bundesliga once before (November 1978 to March 1979).

Defensive problems for SVD

Darmstadt have conceded at least one goal in the last seven Bundesliga games – that is the longest run for the Lilies since promotion in 2015.

New seating for the BayArena - donation and reuse of existing seats

A fresh look for the BayArena: The Bayer 04 stadium will have new seating in the form of folding seats for the 2026/27 campaign that will ensure significantly improved seating comfort and simplified movement within the rows of seats. As part of routine replacement after 17 years, fans of the Werkself were able to purchase the existing seats, used to witness the first German league title in the club's history. In addition, a large proportion of the seats will be donated to charitable projects, primarily in the local region. Bayer 04 fans can look forward to new, functional folding seats for the season opener at the beginning of August - still in the club colours of black and red, of course.
