Wirtz returns to training ground

Positive news from the training ground – and three at once: Florian Wirtz completed parts of full training on Monday for the first time since his torn cruciate in the middle of March. In addition to the 19-year-old, Karim Bellarabi and Exequiel Palacios were back on the pitch at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium.

The next important step on the road to his comeback has been completed: On his return to training with the team, Florian Wirtz was clearly happy to be involved in several drills on Monday morning – for the first time under the guidance of Bayer 04 head coach Xabi Alonso.

Also part of the group training was Karim Bellarabi, who completed the whole of the Monday session. The 32-year-old winger suffered a knee injury in the middle of August. Exequiel Palacios, who has been sidelined since the middle of September with a muscle injury, also trained with the team at the start of the week.

From London, where he plays for top club Arsenal, Havertz is closely following the discussion about the Bayer 04 Campus and, like more than 11,000 other supporters, has signed the petition launched by Bayer 04 fans from Monheim am Rhein.
