"We have found a good moment to provide the stage for the new generation," said Simon Rolfes, Bayer 04 sporting managing director. "These players are exemplary of the development and direction of the club."
For the last two decades, the Bayer 04 legends Emerson, Jorginho, Michael Ballack, Bernd Schneider and Ulf Kirsten adorned the south side of the BayArena – protagonists of the Bayer 04 generation that played and celebrated great victories at the turn-of-the-century.
"I was able to play alongside some of them. The club has a lot to thank them for," and Rolfes before adding: "The international attraction of our club is also founded on their success. They will always remain a significant part of Bayer 04. And they will also continue to be evident in many places in and around the BayArena."
There are currently ongoing changes in all areas of the club as part of the redesign and modernisation of the club brand. The idea of 'Under the Cross' as a new marketing platform is visible on the chest the Werkself players, as well as on social media, the club platforms of the website and the app as well as in and around the BayArena. The partners of club are also joining in with their content and presence.
